Bielefeld University is characterized by its very open communication culture. Respectful and fair interaction with each other is a basic conviction of studying and teaching that is taken for granted.
If conflicts arise during the course of studies, a direct discussion between the parties involved is the first step. A personal conversation often prevents misunderstandings compared to other ways of communication. Many situations can be solved directly and at a low level. If this is not the case, students can turn to the departmental student representative committee for tips and support. Depending on the type of conflict, the person responsible for the module or the person responsible for the study program can be involved.
Advice in challenging situations is also offered by the Student Counselling Service for the subject Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht").
